Bill is a physician, entrepreneur and leader in global health. Ashish is president of The/Nudge Foundation. He focuses on using market-based solutions to drive sustainable social change. His emphasis has been on multi-year programs that seek to build and scale inclusive business models to address sector-specific development challenges. Ashish was the founder of Monitor Inclusive Markets (MIM), a social action unit within Monitor. He pioneered MIM’s market- based approach to addressing the world’s development challenges. Ashish led an extensive effort to facilitate a new ownership housing industry to serve low-income urban households, working with entrepreneurs, developers, finance companies, major corporations, and the government. In 2018 this had scaled to a USD 4 billion loan portfolio and over 230,000 new houses. Ashish has also helped catalyze the clean drinking water market for low-income urban households and private sector supply of toilets in Bihar. Prior to founding MIM, Ashish started, developed, and led Monitor Group’s consulting business in India. Ashish has a PhD from Stanford University, an MS from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.Tech. from IIT Bombay. In his earlier stints, he has spent 15 years in the corporate sector working with companies like Google where he led and grew the Strategic Partnerships business by 60%, and Motorola where he led many key software deliverables for flagship mobile handsets.
